Wood
M 3C used Cedar as a top, and African Mahogany as a back and side wood.
Cedar is darker looking and softer than that of spruce, which allows for a softer touch that will produce wonderful harmonic tones and sustained resonance. This tonewood bestows a sweet, warm, and beautiful sound.
African Mahogany has amber like brownish streaks. It comes in a straighter grain which is great for an effective clear tonal transfer and it gives players a strong mid-range presence and a wonderful warmer overtone.
Brace
Lattice brace design is rigid, enhance the flexibility, and resonance of the top. It excels for its ease of playability, dynamic range, and big voice for the concert hall.
Construction
Montoya use traditional Spanish neck joint construction. The neck is one piece extends into the body and to the base of the neck, then the back and sides are jointed directly to the neck base block. It stabilize the neck, and improve the resonance.
Details
Modern wooden rosette is mix and match design using maple, spruce, and mahogany. Rosewood binding is use, and protect the body against impact.
Headstock
Headstock is inlay with Water drop exclusively in Montoya Pop series. Matching design on fingerboard, rosette, and bridge. Montoya classical guitar headstock made with rosewood veneer. GOTOH machinehead is use for precise tuning.
Fretboard
Spalted maple tapering dots is inlay in Rosewood fretboard. Rosewood is a hard tone wood that with open pores. It's a stable wood to be a fretboard, and also adaptable to climate changes. Mahogany neck added center ebony wood for strength and stability.
Bridge / Saddle
Traditional rectangular rosewood bridge helps support the string tension. Wooden design added at edge of bridge to protect string tension against the wood. The buffalo bone for the nut which is very hard and articulate. This helps the strings to vibrate and to have a deep resonance.
